Short summary

Citizen science is a well-established practice in many scientific disciplines, including the humanities and social sciences. VERA is a new platform designed to support and promote participatory research projects in the humanities and social sciences.

During this session, participants will learn more about VERA and explore the evolving field of citizen science from the perspective of the humanities and social sciences.

Speakers

Valentina Pasquale is a Research Data Management Specialist at the Italian Institute of Technology, where she coordinates support services for research data management and Open Science. She also coordinates the GO FAIR Data Stewardship Competence Centers Implementation Network. Before working in research data management, she obtained a PhD in Humanoid Technologies from the University of Genoa in 2010 and spent several years working in the field of Computational Neuroscience.

Alessia Smaniotto develops and coordinates research and innovation projects for OpenEdition, a French research infrastructure dedicated to open access scholarly communication in the humanities and social sciences. Since 2018, she has specialised in participatory research in the humanities and social sciences. She is a member of the coordination group of the European research infrastructure OPERAS, where she is responsible for citizen science activities and represents the infrastructure within the European Citizen Science Association (ECSA).

Target audience

This webinar is designed for the Italian community and is aimed at researchers, research support staff, technicians and technologists interested in Open Science and FAIR principles.
