Short summary

Aligning research and innovation processes with the values, needs and expectations of citizens is a core principle of Responsible Research and Innovation RRI. In synergy with the Open Science paradigm, it promotes research that involves citizens and patients from the earliest design stages and even from public decision making processes on research and innovation carried out by institutions.

This webinar will explore the main elements of Public Engagement, a central aspect of Open and Responsible Research and Innovation ORRI.

Speakers

Elena Giglia is moderator and Head of the Open Access Project Unit at the University of Turin. She is active in national and international Open Science working groups and participates in several Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects. She contributed to the Italian Ministry of University and Research committee that prepared the National Open Science Plan. She was also a member of the ANVUR working group Open Access and new indicators. She regularly participates in national and international conferences on Open Science and is active in training and outreach activities.

Angela Simone is a science communication expert with experience in citizen engagement and Open and Responsible Research and Innovation ORRI. She works as an evaluator and consultant for the European Commission. She has collaborated for many years with Fondazione Giannino Bassetti especially in European Commission funded projects on science and society. She currently coordinates the EU REINFORCING project for the foundation. She is adjunct professor in the Master in Management of Research Innovation and Technology at Politecnico di Milano on ORRI topics. She is also a partner in the science communication agency formicablu srl.
